A double from Kaj Sierhuis handed Groningen a 2-0 victory over Emmen.

The hosts dominated the match from the start but they failed to find the opening goal. The closest they came was a Ajdin Hrustic free-kick that cracked off the crossbar.

Two minutes into the second half, Groningen did take the lead with Kaj Sierhuis firing in a low cross from Joel Asoro.

In the 72nd minute, Sierhuis then settled the victory with a header. Emmen were then reduced to ten men before the end with Michaël Heylen seeing red.

Groningen head into the winter break sitting 10th while Emmen are 14th.
