Daley Sinkgraven is happy to be back in action for Ajax after more than a year but he has yet to speak to the club about his expiring contract.

The midfielder made his comeback as a substitute in the win over ADO Den Haag on Sunday after more than a year out with a knee injury.

Speaking to AD, the 23-year-old said he is hoping to once again start for Ajax but is happy with substitute appearances for now, “In this way I think it’s fine, of course, but it is not realistic that those moments come consistently.

“Maybe the cup match at the end of this month against Roda JC is still an option, and in the winter break we will be playing two exhibition games in the USA, so in the end I hope to get my minutes.”

Sinkgraven is confident that his knee is now fully recovered, “I am glad that I am back on the field anyway. I do not always think: It only goes well if my knee likes it. A few weeks ago I still had that doubt. Now that feeling is happy. I trust my knee again one hundred percent. In terms of condition, I obviously need to improve. I’m now at seventy percent, I estimate. ”

The former Heerenveen youth’s contract expires at the end of the season and talks have not yet begun on a renewal, “We have not talked about that yet. There was no time for that either, of course the future is important, but I’ve only been busy with this moment, and after all these setbacks, it’s great to be back in. Now to really get totally fit.”
