Wesley Sneijder has confirmed that he is helping Mohammed Ihattaren turn his career around.

Last week, Wesley Sneijder had stated he reached out to Ihattaren to offer his help after Ajax confirmed that they would not be making his loan from Juventus permanent.

At the weekend, Ihattaren was pictured alongside Sneijder in the stands at the match between AZSV and DHSC. Speaking to Veronica Inside, Sneijder confirmed he had taken Ihattaren under his wing, “We have started. He had seen my call much earlier, but was ashamed to contact earlier.

“So in the end he did. We spent two days working together. Lots of talks, I took him to that DHSC game… That we’re being photographed? That’s okay. It’s no secret, right? Today we started training. We’ve done a lot of testing and he says he’s going for it. That’s very positive. It has been a tough period, he knows he was wrong and he says so. He wants to go bang.”

According to Sneijder, Ihattaren has realised he has made mistakes but the former Netherlands international is willing to help him out when he returns to Juventus in January, “Of course, he has made the news a number of times and those are just mistakes. Certainly, if you are a professional football player, that is not allowed. He recognizes it now and says he wants to get started. He realizes that it is two to twelve. Back to Juventus? He’s going to do that and I’m going with you. I also said, “I’m doing it for you.” You have to do it for yourself, not for me. It’s in his head and he says he’s ready.”

Ihattaren has not played a minute this season and it is unclear what Juventus plans to do with him when he returns in January.
