Wesley Sneijder sees himself becoming part of Ronald Koeman’s backroom staff in the future after speaking with the Netherlands boss.

Sneijder will pull on an Oranje jersey for the 134th and final time against Peru on Thursday but he does not think his days with the Dutch national team are over yet.

He told Voetbal International, “We talked about a possible role in the staff of Oranje in the future.

“I thought it was a nice compliment that someone like Koeman should see something like that, we did not talk about when that could happen. Ronald knows that I want to continue as a player for as long as possible, but it was an interesting conversation. “

Sneijder is hoping for a role as an assistant, “Getting along with the players, football content and on the mental level.

“The group process in the run-up, working together for weeks on that one goal, from match to match life on the highest stage: that I would love to experience on the other side.”
