Wesley Sneijder believes he could have been as good as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sneijder decided to hang up his boots last summer, and speaking to Di Marzio, the former midfielder believes he could have reached the same level as Ronaldo or Messi, but admitted he didn’t have the same drive.
He said, “I could have been as good as Messi or Ronaldo, but I just didn’t feel much for it. I love life and drank a glass of wine here and there. Leo and Cristiano are different. They sacrificed so much. That’s fine. My career was still great.”
Sneijder is now focusing on youth coaching, but won’t rule out a return to the pitch, “I have started developing young players in recent months. I love helping them in that. However, in life everything is possible. Chairman, trainer … Everything can happen. Whether I have stopped? Yes. At least , for now.”
Certainly Sneijder was a great player but, I am pretty sure that Messi and Ronaldo also ‘love life.’ If this is how he feels, great, but some ‘feelings’ are best left unspoken and “I could have been…” statements are pretty meaningless and lose value when you say it about yourself. He’ll be remembered as a great player just leave it there IMO.
