According to ESPN, Wesley Sneijder is close to signing a two-year deal with Los Angeles FC.

The new MLS franchise is looking for a marquee signing to show a statement of intent and are closing in on Sneijder as their first designated foreigner, sources have told ESPN.

The 33-year-old still has 12 months left on his contract with Galatasaray and will remain in Turkey until Los Angeles begin their MLS campaign next March. That would allow Sneijder to remain in Europe until Netherlands World Cup qualifying campaign ends.

PSV midfielder Andres Guardado is also being heavily linked with Los Angeles, while the move to America would end Sneijder’s chances of a return to Ajax.
