News broke on Tuesday that Galatasaray were set to fine the Dutchman around €2 million and speaking to Voetbal International Guido Albers has made it clear that Sneijder’s time in Turkey is coming to an end.
Albers told VI, “This makes it clear that Wesley has to leave the club.
“In late 2015, we have extended with Galatasaray and it was intended that Wesley would remain at the club for at least another two years.”
However, Albers has claimed that Galatasaray only sought an extension so a club would have to pay €7.5 million for the midfielder, instead of Sneijder leaving on a free transfer.
He continued, “If a club acts this way, then a transfer is usually the outcome.”
There is reportedly interest in Sneijder from the English Premier League, Serie A and China. The 32-year-old is keen to remain in Europe.
