Wesley Sneijder spoke to the NOS after becoming Oranje’s most capped player with 131 caps overtaking the previous record set by Edwin van der Sar.

Sneijder won his 131st cap against Luxembourg on his 33rd birthday on Friday and he celebrated with a goal in the 5-0 win over Luxembourg.
After the game, Sneijder said, “I have always worked towards this and given so much to be part of squads on a regular basis.
“Tonight is special especially breaking the record on your birthday and scoring and winning 5-0.
“Arjen Robben gave a really nice speech after the game about all the special times and things we have done during our time together in the national team setup.”
Sneijder received from the KNVB a special engraved shield with all the the internationals he has played.
