Fran Sol struck a late equaliser as Willem II held Feyenoord to a 1-1 draw in Tilburg.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst named Nicolai Jorgensen in the starting line-up for the first time this season with Robin van Persie dropping into the midfield.

The first half was very poor with Feyenoord unable to trouble the Willem II backline while the hosts only went close once when Fran Sol headed at Kenneth Vermeer.

Feyenoord improved after the break and started to create chances with Timo Wellenreuther saving well from Steven Berghuis. In the 73rd minute, Feyenoord were awarded a penalty via VAR after Jan-Arie van der Heijden was fouled. Berghuis scored from the spot to make it 1-0.

Van Bronckhorst threw on an extra defender in order to shut up shop but in the 85th minute, Tyrell Malacia lost the ball leading to Sol scoring from a Donis Avdijaj cross.

Feyenoord temporarily move above Ajax into second but are seven points adrift of PSV. Willem II sit 11th.
