Southampton have confirmed the signing of Dutch centre-back Wesley Hoedt from Lazio.

The Premier League side have signed Hoedt for a fee of around £15 million, with the 23-year-old signing a five-year deal on Tuesday.
Hoedt told the official Southampton website, “I’m really happy to be here. I think Southampton is a really big club, so it’s a good next step for me to come here and to play in the Premier League and try to help the best I can.”
The Dutch international signed for Lazio in 2015 from AZ Alkmaar on a free transfer and went on to make 61 appearances for the club, scoring four goals. He joins fellow Dutchmen Jordy Clasie and Virgil van Dijk at Southampton, although he may have been signed as a replacement for the latter, who has handed in a transfer request.
