The forward had his contract with Feyenoord dissolved earlier in the season but was given another chance in Rotterdam with Sparta offering him a contract until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old netted twice and contributed two assists, but at the weekend he was given a straight red card for kicking Vitesse defender Alexander Buttner in the face. The KNVB punished him with a seven game suspension, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Kramer had wanted to remain at the club to show his support from the stands and on the training ground, but Dick Advocaat has decided he doesn’t want a player around that he cannot use.

Kramer is now free to look for another club ahead of next season.
