Heerenveen ended their run of four straight losses with a 0-0 draw at Sparta Rotterdam.

Both sides went into the game in no great form and a cagey game was to be expected in Rotterdam. The first half saw both sides come close, but Deroy Duarte shot wide for the hosts while at the other end, Martin Odegaard and Michel Vlap both went close before Stijn Schaars saw his goalbound effort blocked by his own teammate Reza Ghoochannejhad.
The first half was poor, but the second was even worse with both sides clearly settling for a point apiece. Substitute Ragnar Ache came closest to netting the winner for Sparta but his header was cleared on the line by Schaars.
The draw means Heerenveen sit in 7th while Sparta are 13th.
