Sparta Rotterdam and De Graafschap will meet in the playoff final for a place in the Eredivisie next season after both winning their second leg ties on Wednesday.

With the score at 1-1 from the first-leg, De Graafschap were in danger of being officially relegated from the Eredivisie, just like Excelsior earlier on in the night.

However, the Superboeren were too good for Cambuur in the second leg with Charlison Benschop ensuring their passage to the final.

The striker headed the hosts in front on 24 minutes before he netted a penalty just before the break.

Cambuur had gone close before halftime but Nigel Robertha’s header came back off the post. In the second half, they looked for a way back into the match but De Graafschap held on to book their place in the final.

Sparta Rotterdam will be their opponents after they comfortably defeated Top Oss 3-0 and 5-0 on aggregate.

Bart Vriends opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Ragner Ache’s quickfire double late on sealed the win.

The first leg will take place in Rotterdam on Saturday before the return leg on Tuesday.
