Sparta Rotterdam are up to sixth after a 3-1 victory over Emmen.

The hosts began the game brightly and after only 13 minutes, Vito van Crooy headed Sparta in front.

Both sides struggled to create chances after the opener, but Emmen equalised early in the second half when Mohamed Bouchouari set up Ole Romeny to score.

Emmen were then reduced to ten men with Miguel Araujo shown his second yellow card after only an hour.

With the extra man, Sparta restored their lead with Bart Vriends heading in a Van Crooy corner. Mario Engels then added a third just before the end.

Sparta now rises up to sixth, while Emmen sits 17th.
