PEC Zwolle have made it two wins out of two under Jaap Stam as they proved to be too strong for Heracles Almelo. The bluefingers came away from Almelo with a 2-0 win.

Last week, PEC Zwolle defeated Feyenoord 3-1 in Stam’s maiden game, while Heracles went down 3-0 to Groningen.

The differing confidence between the two clubs was clear to see as PEC Zwolle took the lead in the 16th minute. Mike van Duinen was left unmarked to fire in a corner.

Vito van Crooij went close to a second but was denied by goalkeeper Janis Blaswich. Before the break, Heracles went close to an equaliser but Dario Van den Buijs hit the post, before Adrián Dalmau was denied by Mickey van der Hart.

Ten minutes into the second half, PEC Zwolle doubled their lead through Lennart Thy, who fired in Younes Namli’s cross.

After an hour, Heracles were given the opportunity to pull one back when Dalmau was brought down by Kinglsey Ehizibue. However, van der Hart kept out Kristoffer Peterson’s spot-kick.

PEC Zwolle saw out the rest of the match to claim the three points and climb to 11th. Heracles are in 8th spot.
