John Stegeman is the new head coach of PEC Zwolle, signing a two-year contract.

Last summer, Stegeman made the choice to leave Heracles Almelo to take over at Go Ahead Eagles because of his love for the Deventer club.

However, after just missing out on promotion to the Eredivisie on Tuesday night, Stegeman has made the swift choice to depart the club for their arch rivals PEC Zwolle.

He signs a two-year deal and becomes the successor to Jaap Stam, who is now with Feyenoord.

Maurice Steijn was PEC Zwolle’s first choice for the role but he rejected their advances to stay with VVV Venlo.
