VVV Venlo have failed to win in their last ten Eredivisie matches and are currently in 12th place in the Eredivisie with 34 points with three matches remaining.

Steijn said, ”We must pick up a few more points before the end of the season. It’s quite some time that we last picked up 3 points. I was not happy how we played in last weekend’s defeat to Sparta Rotterdam but I believe that we played better tonight at home to SC Heerenveen and we did everything to win the game.

”You see at this level in the Eredivisie that moments decide matches. We missed a penalty which was a shame.

”We do not look specifically at the winless run of 10 matches we look at the matches that are important to us within that run and we have dropped silly points at times and we always look at how we can improve things.

”It is true that at the end of a very good season that we are struggling with injuries and suspensions. It has been a very physical season for us.

”SC Heerenveen have the quality to be decisive on the counter-attack as they showed in their second goal.

”I was more upset about our defeat against Sparta Rotterdam last weekend. But tonight my team did everything they could to get a result. They fought and showed their worth.”
