The former Netherlands number one is now deemed surplus to requirements at Craven cottage and according to various Spanish media outlets he could revive his career at 2014 Europa League winners Sevilla. The player’s agent has offered his services to the club and has received positive response back from the La Liga side.
The former Roma man will bring him a wealth of experience, having played in 54 International matches including the World cup final, while also spending years in the Serie A and Eredivisie.
Stekelenburg who joined the Cottagers from Roma last summer for 5.6 million Euros had a frustrating time and only made 19 appearances for the West London club, conceding 43 goals. He eventually lost his number one spot to David Stockdale.
