AZ Alkmaar remains the nearest challenger to Ajax after a comfortable 3-0 win over Emmen on Sunday evening.

It’s been a dream week for Myron Boadu and Calvin Stengs, who were both named in the Netherlands squad on Friday. Both started against Emmen and were keen to make a big impression once again.

AZ dominated Emmen from the start but they had to wait until the 35th minute to take the lead. Jonas Svensson was brought down, leading to a penalty which Teun Koopmeiners scored.

Svensson then crossed for Boadu to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time. It was the youngster’s eighth goal in the Eredivisie and 14th overall this season.

Just before the hour mark, Stengs also got himself on the scoresheet to seal an excellent week for him and AZ, who stay second and six points behind Ajax. Emmen are 13th.
