Calvin Stengs is in fine form for AZ Alkmaar since returning from injury and he could be heading for Ajax in the summer.

The 20-year-old suffered a horrible injury at the start of last season and spent more than a year out but has shown great form since returning to the AZ line-up.

Since the winter break, Stengs has scored three goals in four games and this form isn’t going unnoticed around the Eredivisie.

NOS journalist Arno Vermuelen revealed on the site’s weekly podcast that Ajax are closely following the winger.

He said, “I just heard that they might want a right winger at Ajax who is still playing at AZ. There would be a lot of interest in taking Stengs, who is high on the wish list at Ajax.”

Vermuelen adds that Stengs could cost between €10-15 million, which would not be a problem for Ajax, who are set to see Hakim Ziyech, Matthijs de Ligt and David Neres all depart in the summer, while Frenkie de Jong has already agreed a €86 million move to Barcelona.
