Calvin Stengs has officially made his return to action during Jong AZ Alkmaar’s 1-1 draw at Dordrecht on Friday.

The 19-year-old went into last season with plenty of hype surrounding him but suffered an awful ankle injury just minutes into the season opener against PSV.

Stengs has been recovering since and made his comeback in a 45-minute friendly cameo during the international period. On Friday, the winger made his official return in Jong Ajax’s clash with Dordrecht.

AZ fell behind early on but the forward looked lively in the first half and won a penalty which led to an equaliser. He played 15 minutes of the second half before being replaced.

Stengs will be hoping to make his first-team return from the bench on Saturday when AZ travel to Utrecht.
