The so-called Adidas miCoach complex, which is located next to the training ground, could not handle the weather in Netherlands capital, and completely collapsed.
Ajax’s players were due to train in the complex today as they prepare for their KNVB Cup game against minnows ASWH, but they had a lucky escape, as Frank de Boer cancelled the session.
De Boer believed the structure to be unsafe for his players, and they abandoned their scheduled training.
Afterwards, De Boer told the official Ajax website, ” The sides of the hall were already dented already, we found that the risk is too great.”
The unique inflatable hall was built in 2011, and is used to measure the performance of the Eredivisie champions, with all the equipment said to have cost €3 million. It was used by both the first team, and reserves, but will now be out of use for the foreseeable future.
