Kevin Strootman has rubbished stories linking him with a move away from Roma by stating that he will be with the club next season and is discussing a new contract.

The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Italian capital recently, with Marseille and Manchester United being linked with summer bids.

However, Speaking to Sky Sports Italy, Strootman has confirmed that he will be at Roma next season and stated talks are underway on a new contract.

He said, “Will I stay at Roma past 2018? Now there’s a new sporting director and some things will change at the club. We’re talking about my contract, I always said I’m comfortable in Rome: they always supported me, even during the injury. Next season I’ll still be here.”
