Tubantia is reporting that Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat was present during Utrecht’s match with Heerenveen on Sunday to watch the French forward, who scored a penalty in the 1-1 draw.
Sunderland have had a difficult start to the Premier League season, losing both their matches so far, and Advocaat could turn to Haller to get them out of trouble. Brentford have already had a bid of around €6 million rejected for the 21-year-old with Utrecht only willing to listen to offers of more than €9 million.
Haller netted eleven goals in 17 Eredivisie matches while on loan from Auxerre last season, prompting Utrecht to make the deal permanent this summer.
