Van Persie signed a one-and-a-half-year-deal with Feyenoord on Monday, returning to the club after 14-years away.

Feyenoord centre-back Sven van Beek said, ”Robin van Persie was one of my heroes. He has done great things in and for Dutch football.

”He has played for some great clubs and he has a lot of experience. We can be happy that he has chosen to return to Feyenoord.

”My first impressions in training of van Persie is the quality of his first touch. We knew that his arrival would bring a lot of attention which is also fully deserved.

”It is great that van Persie’s return gives us a massive boost. We must stay focused on the football and look to climb up the Eredivisie league table.”

Asked what his favourite memory of Van Persie was, he responded, ”My favourite memory of van Persie is the goal that he scored against Spain in the 2014 World Cup.”
