Speculation is rife in Germany that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is one of the candidates to become the new head coach of Bayern Munich.

After their 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich announced that Niko Kovac had been sacked.

According to German Sky Sports, Bayern Munich have identified Ten Hag as their top candidate and have made contact with Ajax. However, the Amsterdammers are unwilling to let the 49-year-old leave halfway through the season.

Bayern Munich may look to appoint a temporary head coach until the summer until they can appoint Ten Hag, who has already worked at the German club as head coach of their B team between 2013 and 2015.

According to BILD, Ten Hag is one of the candidates but Italian coach Massimiliano Allegri is favourite due to his availability now.
