According to The Daily Express, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has deemed Donny van de Beek as surplus to requirements.

The midfielder was hoping that the arrival of his former Ajax boss would mean some more playing time this season, but Van de Beek has only made three substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.

According to The Daily Express, Ten Hag has now decided that the Dutch international is no longer needed and it appears a January transfer is inevitable.

Van de Beek did join Everton on loan last January but barely played for the Merseyside club due to injuries. The lack of playing time is scuppering the chance of the 25-year-old being included in the World Cup squad next month.
