Erik ten Hag will not let his players mourn their Champions League exit for long.

For the second year running Ajax have been knocked out in the Champions League group stages after Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Atalanta Bergamo in Amsterdam.

Speaking to Ajax TV, Ten Hag stated the players will only get a short time to reflect before the focus shifts to PEC Zwolle, “They get half a day, tomorrow. They have to be there again, because PEC Zwolle awaits on Saturday.”

Last season, Ajax dropped into the Europa League and were immediately knocked out by Getafe, “We will continue in the Europa League. Ajax knows very well where that can lead, but we also know what happened last year. You will have to go through the next round first,” Ten Hag said.

Ten Hag wants his players to quickly bring positivity back to ensure a good season, “We learned that lesson last year. It leads to negativity, injuries, little energy … The positive vibe has to come back in. We are having a good season and that should be continued against PEC.”
