Netherlands host Poland on the 4th of September in an empty Johan Cruijff ArenA before Italy visit Amsterdam three days later.
Lodeweges has named three new faces in the squad for the two games with PSV Eindhoven midfielder Mohamed Ihattaren, AZ Alkmaar left-back Owen Wijndal, and Ajax centre-back Daley Blind all given their first call-ups.
Feyenoord midfielder Leroy Fer and Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul are also back with the national team after a while out.
Daley Blind is out of the squad after his heart scare last week, while Calvin Stengs, Myron Boadu, Davy Propper, Tonny Vilhena, Patrick van Aanholt, Wout Weghorst and Jeroen Zoet are among those to drop out from the provisional squad.
The full squad is:
Goalkeepers: Marco Bizot (AZ), Jasper Cillessen (Valencia), Tim Krul (Norwich City)
Defenders : Nathan Aké (Manchester City), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Denzel Dumfries (PSV), Hans Hateboer (Atalanta), Perr Schuurs (Ajax), Joël Veltman (Brighton), Stefan de Vrij (Inter Milan), Owen Wijndal (AZ Alkmaar)
Midfielders: Donny van de Beek (Ajax), Leroy Fer (Feyenoord), Mohamed Ihattaren (PSV), Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona), Marten de Roon (Atalanta), Kevin Strootman (Marseille), Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool)
Attackers: Ryan Babel (Galatasaray), Steven Bergwijn (Tottenham), Memphis Depay (Lyon), Luuk de Jong (Sevilla), Quincy Promes (Ajax)
Babel is way too weak for turkish league and eredivisie but great for battling Lewandowski and Insignie. Hup Hup Logic…
It will be nice to see how de Vrij plays with van Dijk and I hope they put Aké on the left. Babel shouldn’t be there and I think it’s time for Strootman And Fer to move over for Koopmeiners and I would have preferred Pröpper. Stengs for Babel and Boadu for de Jong and you got yourself a team. Miraculous recovery from de Ligt and we can drop Veltman. Schuurs I hope gets some time, but I don’t think he will start.
Now that we know the roster for the Poland and Italy matches this is my 11.
Bizot- Dumfries, Ake, Van Dyk, Wyndal-
Frankie de Jong, Wynaldum- Van Den Beek-
Bergwijn, Depay Promes
Hup hup Holland
Seriously. Babel, Strootman & Veltman ???
Fer- Welcome back
Koopmeiners played a big part in last AZ win in the cl so it is frustrating for him not to get the call-up instead calling strootman and fer both are not in a good form for a long time especially strootman who i wonder why he is still there with babel that tottaly lost it the last 6 month with ajax i think Koopmeiners and propper for fer and strootman and boadu for babel would have been great to see
