FC Utrecht defender Timo Letschert has signed for Italian club Sassuolo on a four-year deal.

The central defender (23) arrived at Utrecht from Roda JC originally on loan in 2014 before signing a permanent deal. Timo Letschert made more than 50 appearances for FC Utrecht, but leaves for Serie A after Sassuolo agreed a undisclosed fee for the defender.
Speaking to the official Sassuolo website, Letschert, ‘A fantastic moment. Two years ago, I was relegated with Roda, now I make a transfer for so many million to Italy.
“There are three clubs that were concrete, but I had the best feeling in Sassuolo. They are building a project here. Sassuolo last season finished sixth, and above AC Milan.”
Sassuolo finished 6th in Seria A last season and are currently playing in the Europa League qualifying rounds . They take on Swiss club FC Luzern this Thursday in the 2nd leg having drawn 1-1 in Switzerland in the 1st leg.
