Twente - Roda JCProfile

FC Twente plucked Oosterwijk from Go Ahead Eagles when the two formed academies in 2009 and at the age of 18 he was the starting forward for Jong Twente in the Eerste Divisie. Over two seasons in the Dutch second division the youngster netted 19 times in 61 appearances, while he made his debut in the first team as a late substitute against Vitesse in 2014.

With FC Twente’s money issues, Oosterwijk was promoted to the first team last summer and made 14 Eredivisie appearances, scoring three times before an injury in January ended his season prematurely.

Style of play

Oosterwijk’s height makes him a perfect target man, but having played in midfield during his youth he is also comfortable dribbling with the ball at his feet. He is strong in the air, and has a lovely right foot strike.

What can we expect from Oosterwijk this season?

After his return from injury Oosterwijk will be hoping to play his way back into the Twente first team, but will face competition from loan signing Enes Unal. The 21-year-old has featured predominantly during pre-season and will be guaranteed game time with the club making only a handful of signings. A good start to the season could easily see Oosterwijk play his way into the Netherlands U21 squad.
