Last week Frank de Boer said in an interview with BBC that he would be interested in coaching a club like Tottenham or Liverpool in the future, when he leaves Ajax.
This statement has been met with fierce criticism from Spurs boss Tim Sherwood, who was appointed after De Boer turned down the opportunity to replace the sacked Andre Villas Boas in December.
Sherwood is quoted by Sky Sports saying, “It’s natural I suppose, it’s a big job, but I don’t think I would ever tout myself about for a job when someone was already in the hot seat,”
“But if they want to do that, that’s up to them. I don’t know Frank. I’m not sure. I’m relaxed about it. But it wouldn’t be something I would be doing.”
“They just want to put themselves in the frame. Obviously they are not happy with the jobs they are doing if they are touting themselves for the Tottenham job.
Sherwood has an 18 month deal with Tottenham but is expected to be replaced by current Netherlands national team boss Louis van Gaal in the summer.
what an arrogant guy. de boer was obviously contacted over the job before him, so he should consider himself lucky he got the job. De boer declined because he is happy at ajax so what he says doesnt make sense.
Plus at least in the netherlands they appreciate the value of going through the ranks of coaching and doing everythin properly and to the end.
Frank de Boer is one off the finest players of his position to have ever graced our game. And now as a coach he is doing well.
No wonder Sherwood claims he doesn’t know him just like the majority off EPL followers who simply cant see by their own players and clubs.
Ajax Amsterdam is a Club with absolute class and no one can touch them.
Actually Sherwood is way off base. A fan of TS though I am, he should have listened to the interview. De boer responded to the reporters’ question about him being contacted by Spurs AND Liverpool. And Frank said his response was that moment was not the right time for him and his family. He said maybe in the future, but not now. What Sherwood about?
