According to several British media outlets, during negotiations for the transfer of Eriksen, Ajax were offered the talented Englishman to sweeten the deal.
Ajax initially held off from the possible loan, as they seek to purchase Lerin Duarte from Heracles, but if that move fails to materialise then they could return to Tottenham with an offer.
Tottenham see Carroll as a potential first team regular next season, but coach Andre Villas Boas believes the player needs one season on loan at a top club.
The 21 year old midfielder, has impressed in the two first team appearances he has made in the Europa league this season, and is now a regular with the England U-21’s.
Premiership new boys Crystal Palace have also been linked with a loan move, but the possibility of Champions League action makes Ajax a preferred choice for Tottenham to loan their star.
With only two days left in the transfer window, Ajax need to act quick in finding a replacement for their star man, and Carroll may just be the easiest option for the club.
