The 62 year old was linked with the job when previous manager Andre Villas-Boas was sacked but refuse to share the responsibilities of two jobs.
The job was consequently given to Tim Sherwood, who is understood to be willing to step aside and work under Van Gaal as an assistant should that option be made available.
Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy held talks with the former Barca boss in December before follow up talks last month, but now wants fresh discussions over whether the Dutchman can take over in the summer.
Van Gaal has admitted that he would like to get back into club football in the summer when he leaves his position with Netherlands, and if he does not get an offer from a top club then he will consider retirement. Despite Frank de Boer being linked with Tottenham last week, Goal believe that Van Gaal is still Daniel Levy’s first choice.
THFC need a mature, successful and proven manager to bring the good times back. After AVB I believe more harm was done than good. Tim has got us playing again and we desperately need to bag some more goals as 4th place could come down to GD.
This story looks good Tim working with an established manager next season could just be the ticket.
Would love van gaal. Proven winner let’s give him a war chest and get back top four, before we fall behind Liverpool as well.
He wouldnt mneed a warchest as a quality coach will utilse all 4 or 5 of those summer signings properly…
He’ll also quickly out Lemon as he’s pulled the wool over two many managers eyes…. He was awful yesterday. The sooner we get Lamela fit and a run in the team the better!!
Spurs would still have a load of mediocre players to get rid of like Sigurdsson, Rose, Livermore, Paulinho, Naughton, Capoue, Chadli.
Paulinho isn’t a mediocre player and wont be leaving anytime soon. He starter for brazilian national team even though there are games hes gone missing he has helped us win games with his vital goals we need a midfielder like him a box to box. The rest the players i agree esp naughton and sigi
I agree about Paulinho. The thing is the 442,does not suit him too well. He is a playmaker versus say Sandro who is a defensive kiddie. This Spurs team is already ok, they just need to gel a bit
Players that need to go with #Sherwoodmustgo is Bentaleb, Naughton, Townnend, Brad should stay as a player/coach of the development squad and bring him up,for cup games.
