De Ligt was in the starting eleven for Juventus, who went into the game top of the group and three points ahead of Chelsea.
However, it was not a night to remember for De Ligt as his side was on the end of a 4-0 hammering. Trevoh Chabolah made it 1-0 in the first half before Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Timo Werner rounded off the rout after the break.
De Ligt played the full ninety minutes but he could not prevent the defeat which sees Chelsea overtake Juventus into the top spot.
