Earlier in the season, Schmidt and Ihattaren fell out and the midfielder was dropped from the squad as he worked on his form and fitness.
Ihattaren worked his way back into Schmidt’s plans since the winter break, but it has all gone wrong again. According to ED and Voetbal International, Schmidt and Ihattaren clashed this week with the coach reportedly unhappy with the youngsters focus on his career and the team.
The PSV squad is in a hotel ahead of the clash with Ajax on Sunday but Ihattaren is missing and he was told to train on his own.
If Ihattaren does miss the game against Ajax then he will not have played a minute in PSV’s last four games. The club stated the midfielder was ill for the games against Olympiacos (1st leg) and Vitesse, but on Thursday, Ihattaren was on the bench for 90 minutes of the second leg against Olympiacos.
The new development now hinders talks between PSV Eindhoven and Ihattaren over a new contract. His current deal runs until 2022.
