Qualification for Euro 2016 is no longer in Netherlands hands after they were beaten 3-0 by Turkey.

A lack of concentration has cost Netherlands dearly in the qualification campaign so far. Daryl Janmaat’s slack back-pass against Czech Republic cost a point, and the red card for Bruno Martins Indi midweek led to the defeat to Iceland last Thursday.
Danny Blind called on his players to rise to the occasion in Turkey and at least get the draw which would keep them in charge of their own destiny. However those defensive errors which have plagued the Dutch national team popped up again, with Turkey leading after only eight minutes as Oguzhan Ozyakup, a former Netherlands youth international, was allowed to waltz onto Arda Turan’s through ball unchallenged before lifting the ball over Jasper Cillessen.
Netherlands pushed for an equaliser, but on 26 minutes Daley Blind mis-controlled a throw in, allowing Turan to steal the ball and send a shot under Jasper Cillessen, who should have done much better.
The second half saw Turkey sit deep and come under intense pressure from Netherlands, but chances were few and far between, and eventually Burak Yilmaz sealed victory for the home side with five minutes left, spinning in the box before sending a shot into the top corner.
Another disastrous result to add to a horrible campaign, which leaves Netherlands needing to win their last two qualifiers against Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic next month, and hope that Turkey lose to either the Czech’s or Iceland (or draw both). Hope is still alive for Netherlands, but unless performances dramatically improve then the Oranje will miss out on a European Championships for the first time since 1982.
The KNVB has failed to develop players with a strong mental focus. And they play the ones that don’t. Klaassen has been a major disappointment he deserved his shot but is clearly not ready. Where is Castaignos or Dost? Cillessen is not a prime time GK. Its time to go back to Krul. Krul is feisty and doesn’t look scared. Indi and Van Der Weil must never play again. Time for Kongolo and Janmaat to come back and Jetro Willems when he is fit. Like to see Lens back and perhaps Maher. Blind is way too slow and weak to play at the back at the top level. RVP, Robben and Sneijder time to retire as they will NOT qualify for 2016. Its a mess clean it up and regroup for the WC qualifying as even if they make 2106 they clearly would only embarrass themselves. CLEAN HOUSE….
Thoroghly dejected and shattered..Almost had tears in my eye.. Watching Dutch football for the last 27 years but never got so much disheartened by their way of playing. It is so painful to accept – 24 teams will qualify from Europe but Netherlands won’t be there. How come a team, playing semifinal at the World stage a year back, can become so horribly bad within a year time. I know, after this, too many people will write 1000 articles analysing the root cause of this debacle. But for a rabid dutch soccer fan like me, it hardly matters. But yes, the world has no place for emotion. We have to come to terms with rule reality and move on…
Funny think is that the Turks couldn’t even score more than 1 goal against Latvia in both their games but somehow go on to score 3 against Holland in one game. Has to be the bad management. Cannot think of anything else.
Meanwhile, the mighty Iceland who beat Holland twice have been held to a draw by Kazakhstan at their own home.. -_-
Je pense que le problème principal est l’entraineur (danny blind).
les pays bas n’auraient jamais atteint la 3è place à la coupe du monde sans le génie technique de louis van gaal.
les erreurs de selection claires sont:
1/ krul doit etre titulaire
KRUL-
TETE- DE VRIJ- BLIND- WILLEMS-
DE JONG-
SNEIJDER-
ROBBEN- DOST- VAN PERSIE- ROBBEN
Horrible defensive errors, yet again and again during this qualifying campaign. Its easy to see why LVG used a back 5 at the World Cup. With the current squad of defenders the Dutch have, they are not good enough to continue to play the 4-3-3 Ajax way.
It’s time for a more practical manager who can recognize this rather than the last 2 who stubbornly tried the same approach over and over again.
The only good thing to come from this disaster is there’s no way the current coaching staff will still be the there when it comes time for the World Cup qualifying in a year.
This is not new. 2012 wasn’t really any better. Team made it, played like crap, manager quits. Then we go out and have a great 2014 WC. Now back to playing like crap, manager quits, and once again people looking for answers.
So why were we so good in 2010 and 2014 and so bad in 2012 and 2015/6? Answer those questions and things turn around.
Some hints:
1. Coach with a strong personality that players like.
2. Focus on DEFENSE! As the old saying goes: Defense wins championships.
3. Players that don’t buy in, remove from the team. Shouldn’t matter what the players name is. No more in-fighting, finger waving, or complaining about needing the ball.
Those 3 things will fix most of the issues with the team.
