The first real chance of the game came after 20 minutes, but Joey Van den Berg’s header was straight at Nick Marsman in the Twente goal. Then at the other end, Luc Castaignos had a great chance for Twente, but his header went flying over the bar, even though he was totally unmarked.
Twente then started to take control, but could not find a way past Kristoffer Nordfeldt, who kept out efforts from Felipe Gutierrez, and Shadrach Eghan, whilst also stopping Castaignos one on one.
The second half was the same, with Twente having all the chances, Dusan Tadic just missing the target, Kyle Ebecilio firing over, and Andreas Bjelland seeing a header blocked.
Then came the opening goal on 64 minutes, but it was Heerenveen who got it, as Joey van den Berg finished off a fine move to put Marco van Basten’s side in front.
It looked like the Frisian’s were going to steal all three points, but in the 89th minute clever play by Tadic, and Dico Koppers allowed Rasmus Bengtsson to equalise.
An entertaining game of football, but Twente will feel they should have won the game with the amount of chances they created, while Heerenveen will be happy with the point gained without key man Alfred Finnbogason.
