Feyenoord maintained their five-point gap at the top of the table after a 2-0 win over Twente in Enschede.

PSV and Ajax’s wins earlier in the weekend meant pressure was once again put on Feyenoord to show that they wont crumble in their pursuit of the title.

Both sides traded chances in a goalless first half, with Dirk Kuyt seeing an effort cleared off the line for Feyenoord while at the other end Enes Unal had two goals chalked off for offside and Dylan Seys saw his shot blocked by Terence Kongolo.

Chances were few and far between at the start of the second half but eventually on 75 minutes Feyenoord took the lead. Eljero Elia dribbled past his marker on the left before firing a fierce cross into the area for Eric Botteghin to sweep the ball into the net.

Three minutes before the end Feyenoord sealed the victory with Nicolai Jorgensen finishing a swift counter-attack with a powerful finish.

Feyenoord stay five points ahead at the top of the table and have their seventh league win in a row. Twente sit 8th.
