After losing for the first time this season last weekend FC Twente got back on track with a 2-0 win over Heerenveen.

bengtssontweThe first 30 minutes at the Grolsche Veste wont live long in the memory of either club, with neither side taking any chances and seemed to be happy to play the ball around at the back.

Luc Castaignos registered the first shot on target after 31 minutes when he was sent through on goal by Kyle Ebecilio, but his effort was well saved by Kristoffer Nordfeldt. At the other end Daley Sinkgraven and Luciano Slagveer both failed to take advantage of poor defending as they saw goalbound shots blocked.

Twente began to take control of the match in the second half, but Ebecilio missed a glorious chance to open the scoring, but his shot from close range flew into defender Jordy Buijs. Minutes later though the home side had the lead with Rasmus Bengtsson climbing above his marker to head into the net from close range.

Five minutes later Twente killed the game when Youness Mokhtar netted on the rebound after Nordfeldt had parried Castaigno’s shot.

The win moves Twente up to 4th in the table while Heerenveen drop to 7th.
