Kamohelo Mokotjo was making his first appearance at De Grolsche Veste since signing from PEC Zwolle, and the midfielder handed Twente the lead just before the break, firing into the net after a one-two with Kyle Ebecilio.
Twente should have extended their advantage after the break but ADO Den Haag keeper Martin Hansen made smart saves from both Luc Castaignos and Tim Holscher.
The home side were dominant, but ten minutes into second half Rasmus Bengtsson fouled Michiel Kramer in the box, and Roland Alberg made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it 1-1
ADO Den Haag seemed to find the winner on 77 minutes as Mike van Duinen bundled in from close range after Dion Malone’s shot came back off the post.
However with only four minutes left midfielder Shadrach Eghan found the bottom corner with a strike from 25 yards to rescue a point for Twente.
Its two draws in two games for Twente to start the season, while ADO Den Haag get their first point of the campaign after defeat last week.
