The home side started brightly, but they had to wait until the 29th minute to take the lead, with Kyle Ebecilio capitalising on an error by Henrico Drost in the NAC defence to burst into the box and smash the ball into the top corner with help off the bar.
NAC barely threatened, but found an equaliser on 41 minutes, when Jordy Buijs shot was saved by Nick Marsman, and left back Kenny van der Weg was on hand to tap in the rebound.
The parity did not last long, as in stoppage time of the first half, Jelle ten Rouwelaar brought down Shadrach Eghan, and Dusan Tadic slotted the penalty into the corner to make it 2-1 to Twente at the break.
Seven minutes into the second half, Luc Castaignos got ahead of his marker to fire Eghan’s cross past Rouwelaar and make it 3-1 to the hosts.
In the 56th minute, NAC pulled one back as Danny Verbeek’s attempted cross beat Marsman at his near post.
However Twente restored their two goal lead on 68 minutes, with Quincy Promes cutting in from the left before unleashing a right foot shot which proved too powerful for Rouwelaar.
Promes then added his second, and sealed the win with a fantasic strike from around 25 yards which rocketed into the bottom corner.
Twente gain their first win since the beginning of October, and lifts them up to third, while NAC Breda remain in 10th after a disappointing performance.
