RKC Waalwijk earned their first point of the season with a 3-3 draw at FC Twente.

FC Twente went into the game full of confidence after a draw with PSV and a win over Groningen in their opening two games of the campaign. RKC, on the other hand, had two defeats.

The home side dominated the opening stages but it was RKC who took the lead in the 24th minute when a fine team move ended with Anas Tahiri tapping into an empty net.

Both sides then traded chances before the break with Keito Nakamura going close for Twente, while goalkeeper Joel Drommel dealt with a Darren Maatsen header at the other end.

Eventually, in the 64th minute FC Twente were level when Calvin Verdonk set Haris Vuckic into the box and he uses his strength well before firing low into the bottom corner.

Rafik Zekhnini thought he had given Twente the lead but his goal was eventually ruled out by VAR for an offside. In the 78th minute, RKC stunned the home crowd when Ingo van Weert burst into the box before firing the visitors back in front.

In the 90th minute, Vuckic equalised with a low finish before Zekhnini made it 3-2 for Twente moments later with an excellent strike from the edge of the box.

Twente thought they had the win in the bag but Paul Quasten made it 3-3 in the fourth minute of injury time. RKC could have then won the game but Hans Mulder was denied by the post.

The point means FC Twente remains unbeaten and they sit 7th. RKC are off the mark for the campaign and move to 15th.
