FC Twente remain four points adrift at the bottom of the Eredivisie after a 2-1 defeat at ADO Den Haag.

With only four games left, the Tukkers needed a win at the Kyocera Stadion if they were to keep alive their chances of escaping the bottom three. Twente got off to a strong start and took the lead in the thirteenth minute as Adam Maher picked out Fredrik Jensen to fire in the opener.

Twente were comfortable but in first-half stoppage time, Oussama Assaidi sloppily lost possession in the middle of the park which led to Bjorn Johnsen firing past Joel Drommel to equalise.

The goal drained Twente of their confidence and fifteen minutes before the end, ADO Den Haag sealed their victory. A long ball by Wilfred Kanon picked out Johnsen and the striker calmly netted his second of the game.

With the defeat, Twente’s spot in the bottom three is confirmed while they remain four points behind Sparta Rotterdam at the bottom. ADO Den Haag climb to eighth.
