Twente appointed Verbeek as the successor to Rene Hake back in October but the experienced head coach has only won one game in 18 Eredivisie matches.

The club that is currently bottom of the Eredivisie table have now decided to sack Verbeek with only six games left in the season. Assistant coach Marino Pusic takes charge until the end of the season.

Pusic has the task of ensuring that Twente at least reach the end of season relegation play-offs. Only the bottom club automatically down to the Eerste Divisie.
