The Moroccan international gave an explosive interview to De Volskrant last week in which he criticised every aspect of the club and stated his desire to leave.
Now Twente have responded by stripping the 22-year-old of his captains armband after they feel Ziyech wen’t too far.
The club’s director Ted van Leeuwen said in a statement, “Let this be a signal. As a group we have to form a whole, with only one purpose and that is avoid relegation. This requires a positive contribution from everyone.”
Felipe Gutierrez has been chosen to take over as the new captain.
What was FC Twente goal at the start of the season? It was quite obvious what was gonna happen with the squad they now have, but I don´t understand what do they expected after got rid of their best players… Apart of that, I can´t imagine FC Twente going down to the second tier, the club once Eredivisie champion, with the likes of Ruiz, N’kufo, Stoch, etc.
