FC Twente struck twice in the last fifteen minutes to earn themselves a 2-0 victory over Heerenveen.

Heerenveen took to the field for the first time since Joey Veerman left for PSV Eindhoven, with new signing Anas Tahiri starting in midfield.

There were no goals in the first half with Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall denying Rami Kaib, while at the other end, Dimitrios Limnios and Ricky van Wolfswinkel couldn’t find the net.

Eventually, in the 77th minute, Twente took the lead when Heerenveen goalkeeper Xavier Mous misjudged a back pass and Manfred Ugalde took advantage to net.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel then netted from the penalty spot to seal the victory after Jayden Oosterwolde was brought down.

Twente are fifth in the Eredivisie table, while Heerenveen is 10th.
