Willem II left Enschede with a 1-0 win as FC Twente slipped to a fourth straight Eredivisie defeat.

FC Twente had an excellent start to the season but the Tukkers have been in free fall recently and looked a team without confidence on Saturday.

After only six minutes, Willem II had the lead when Marios Vrousai directed a header into the net.

The home team failed to trouble Willem II in the first half but they became more lively after the break. However, the influential Aitor Cantalapiedra had to go off after an hour.

Twente failed to find the equaliser and it could have been 2-0 before the end but Calvin Verdonk was just spared from scoring an own-goal.

Twente are now 11th in the table while Willem II rise to 6th.
