Bert van Marwijk has been sacked as the head coach of the United Arab Emirates national team.

The former Netherlands boss was appointed by the UAE football association back in March with the view of reaching the 2022 World Cup.

However, after four qualifying games, UAE sit bottom of their group behind Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. UAE also performed poorly in the recent Gulf Cup.

Van Marwijk has now been let go along with his coaching staff of Arno van Zwam, John Metgod, Taco van den Velde and Roel Coumans.

The 67 year-old has now had four jobs in international football after coaching Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Australia.
