UAE are looking for a new boss after Alberto Zaccheroni resigned two weeks ago due to the 4-0 defeat against Qatar in the semi-final of the Asian Cup.
According to the local press there is a shortlist of candidates but van Marwijk is the leading choice.
The former Netherlands boss has been out of work since leaving his post as national coach of Australia last year. He is currently an adviser to Mark van Bommel at PSV.
Also said to be on the shortlist is fellow Dutchman Henk ten Cate, the current club coach of Al Wahda.
